Benefitting from successful ideas

I don't want to keep talking about the Million Dollar Home Page, but reading a couple of blogs today, I realized how people can benefit from their own business or website from a successful idea.

Yaro bought some advertising and came to conclusion that he received little traffic from the experiment but there were plenty of people who picked up on his article (including Problogger) which I am sure create a lot of new traffic in itself.

Nev also tried putting pixel advertising on his website and has so far made over a 1000 dollars. Not only is there the money, but over 90 people have left comments.

Directly copying a successful idea, but doing something related to a successful idea, definitely is worth trying.
